"These board-level products won't require modification of existing application programs," says Anil Vasudeva..."They auto-optimize for any selected operating system."

"The cost of this implementation is 10 to 12 cents per megabyte over the cost of standard file servers without fault tolerance," said Anil Vasudeva...

OEM Integration
"These board-level products won't require modification of existing application programs," says Anil Vasudeva..."They auto-optimize for any selected operating system."
Vasudeva calculates it will be a natural fit for LANs with fewer than 100 users.

Anil Vasudeva...said his company's recent tests on Intel 486 systems indicate that software-only RAID can perform as well as hardware solutions or better. Vasudeva predicts software solutions will continue to grow. "The Pentium and PowerPC chips will have plenty of CPU power for RAID software," he said.

"Disk drives are really under the gun for margins," says Anil Vasudeva...As every VAR knows, margins for commodity items like disks are close to zero. "RAID is a value add that will provide the gross margins VARs are looking for," says Vasudeva.

Electronic Buyer's News
"The same kind of demand for fault tolerance in the mainframe world is showing up in networks," said Anil Vasudeva..."The expectations are now of the same high reliability and performance of mainframe servers. RAID arrays are becoming the cost-efficient way to do that."

LAN Times
"The goal is to provide OEMs and integrators of all types with a SCSI adapter that offers RAID protection for another 10 to 12 cents per megabyte," said Anil Vasudeva...

Open Systems Today
They are intended for OEMS and integrators building high-performance disk arrays for departmental networks and client-server systems," said Anil Vasudeva...
